Today was an early start as we began our journey to Kenya. It was an all day journey. So today will be a shorter post and tomorrow I will provide more detail on Kenya and our adventures. We got to the Karibu Serona Airstrip and boarded a 12 seat airplane en route to Arusha. I do think it was the smallest plane we have been on in our travels. The views were beautiful as we flew over the places we had visited over the last fews days - The Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Caldera. The Caldera was amazing to see from the air, hard to believe we were inside of it a few days before.
We landed in Arusha and then had time to shop and have lunch at the Cultural Center.
Next was a two hour bus ride to the border of Tanzania and Kenya. At the boarder crossing we went through immigration and passport control. Next we met up with our new game drive guides and our new jeeps. They took us on a two hour VERY bumpy jeep ride to our new hotel. We crossed into Amboseli National Park after one hour and then the last hour was a short game drive. We saw beautiful giraffes galloping across the landscape. I'll explain more in the next blog, but the landscape here is so different than in the Serengeti, much flatter and drier.
Here's a video so you can watch them in action.
We then arrived at our hotel, the Serena Amboseli. It is the same type of hotel that we stayed in at the Ngorongoro Caldera. We have to keep our screen doors locked otherwise the baboons and monkeys may come inside. We are also sleeping with mosquito netting around our beds. Such a fun adventure.
We ended our night with a very engaging talk by the park ranger about Kenya and elephants. We also got to enjoy a beautiful sunset.
Additionally, as a special surprise, it was the lunar ellipse / red moon. Meredith took this awesome photo. So amazing to get to watch it here and see what seemed like one million stars in the African sky. I love to think it's the same moon we all seeing even though we are in Africa and you are thousands of miles away. So cool!!!!

Tomorrow we start with a 6am game drive and then a visit to a Masai Village.
Thanks so much for following our journey!

Wow! That shot of the Blood Moon is fantastic. You guys take the most amazing adventures. Thanks for sharing them.
What an amazing adventure you are all on! Beautiful pictures and Meredith did a beautiful job with her photo of the blood moon. Thank you for sharing--it is so much fun to follow along with you!💕
This is so cool. I was at this same air strip a couple times and the cultural center a few days before you were. Looks like a trip you’ll never forget.
